Our Southern Highlands house, a three bedroom place just off the main street of Moss Vale and eight minutes from the Hume Highway. The wood fireplace is the reason most people book it.

Every room has a heater on top of the split system, which guests notice in winter. The kitchen has a four burner cooktop and all the basics: toaster, microwave, kettle, fridge and freezer, coffee and tea, plus crockery and cutlery. Linen, pillows, towels, hand wash and toilet paper are all provided. The TV runs Prime Video, Apple TV, Chromecast and Disney+.

Outside there is a big backyard and free driveway parking for three cars, which is more than most Highlands rentals manage. Self check-in is 24 hours by lockbox, so late arrivals are not a problem. Bring your own firewood for the fireplace.

Positioned between Sydney and Canberra, it works for a weekend away and equally for tradies and business travellers working in the Highlands. Bowral is 10 minutes, Bundanoon 18, Goulburn 50, Wollongong an hour, Canberra one hour forty five and Sydney an hour and a half. Strict no party policy, and no bride or groom preparation.
