A four bedroom house in the quiet end of Thirlmere, set up for the sort of group that arrives with two cars and a esky. Ten people fit without anyone drawing the short straw, and the private spa out the back is usually where everyone ends up on the first night.
The living area opens onto a big kitchen with an induction cooktop and a double door fridge, so cooking for a crowd is actually pleasant rather than a logistics exercise. Foxtel runs in both the main lounge and the main bedroom, there is unlimited WiFi, and the whole house is on ducted reverse cycle air, which matters in a part of the world that gets properly cold in July and properly hot in January.
Thirlmere's main street, with its shops and cafes, is a small walk away. The NSW Rail Transport Museum is 400m from the front door, and if you are going, book ahead because tickets are essential. Thirlmere Lakes National Park is a short drive, and the Blue Mountains, Wollongong beaches and Bowral are all inside an hour.
Dogs are welcome outdoors for a $25 pet fee. Linen, towels, hand wash and toilet paper are all provided, and the spa is serviced and sanitised between every stay.
